Rack & Shelf Labels Australia has secured a huge contract for an Australian retailer that required all barcodes to be certified to internationally recognised standards. The project tender for Officeworks brand new distribution facility specified that the circa 170,000 labels to be manufactured for tote bins and associated locations at the site must be of a provable quality standard.

Historically a number of major tote bin projects have failed globally due to poor performance of barcodes when scanned from conveyors and the project team proactively sought to mitigate those risks in the marketplace. The ongoing Alliance Partnership with the international barcode standards organisation GS1 and industry leading barcode quality certification processes implemented on every project as standard gave the retailer the reassurance it needed to engage the services of Rack & Shelf Labels Australia once again.

The project in Queensland is due for completion Q1 2026.

Rack & Shelf Labels (Australia) have now completed a project to fulfil the barcode stock location labelling system requirements for Foodbank Victoria.

Foodbank is now the largest hunger relief organisation in Australia servicing over 2,400 charities in every state and territory to enable them to provide food to 815,000 people a month.

Foodbank VIC recently moved into a newly constructed warehouse in Altona, VIC which resulted in a requirement for circa 10,000 racking spaces to be labelled with certified stock location labels. As part of a WMS systems upgrade, GPC Asia Pacific awarded the contract to relabel the barcoded warehouse stock locations in their Brisbane facility to Rack & Shelf Labels Australia. GPC is one of the largest suppliers of automotive aftermarket parts and services in Australia and New Zealand. Well-known brands associated with GPC include Repco, Ashdown-Ingram, and McLeod Accessories.

Rack & Shelf Labels Australia has been awarded the contract to assist Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia with it’s latest expansion in Mentone Victoria.

The project encompasses the supply and installation of 91 hanging signs with long range barcode scanning capabilities suspended from almost a quarter of a kilometre of steel infrastructure installed into the facilities roof space.

The project is the 23rd of its type fulfilled during Rack & Shelf Labels 5-year relationship with Coca-Cola in Australia dating back to August 2020.

Formed in 2020 as a single organisation Leviat is part of CRH, the largest building materials company in the world. The organisation is in the process of revamping 5 sites across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and the project is due for completion during Q4 2025.

Refresco Australia is a leading beverage manufacturer and one of the world’s largest independent bottlers for retailers and brands. They produce a wide range of drinks, including fruit juices, cordials, carbonated beverages, and mineral waters, both for their own brands and as a contract packager.

The project comprised of the supply and installation of circa 1,000 hanging signs, to identify bulk stack areas suspended at a height of 7 meters, using almost 2 kilometres of steel infrastructure.

The case study relates to a historical project for prominent transport and logistics company Ron Crouch Transport. The organisation had engaged a company to provide stock location labels for its facility in Derrimut Victoria and had subsequently experienced difficulties scanning barcodes when commissioning new barcode scanning hardware. Rack & Shelf Labels were engaged to carry out rigorous testing of the barcodes using GS1 approved processes and discovered various deficiencies and failures regarding the existing products. The products were then replaced with Rack & Shelf Labels fully tested and verified barcode products instantly resolving all issues at the site. The events were identified by GS1 as being relevant enough to bring matters to the attention of their members, which include virtually all of the world’s major retailers and manufacturers.

The project for The Toll Group comprises of 40,000 racking labels and 212,000 shelving labels, with barcodes all fully certified to the highest attainable GS1 verification standards.

The products will take circa 15,000 hours to install under fully evaluated and documented quality control standards.

The project for the automotive parts company John Hughes, comprised of circa 25,000 location labels and 100 warehouse signs was supplied and installed in just under 3 weeks.
